Been looking at a few viral sites lately and seen a couple that really impressed me.
The first is a site called Knicker Picker. An amazing visual site that offer the USP of models actually trying on the underwear/swimwear before redirecting the user to the relevant retailer to buy.
This year Knicker Picker is second only to Victoria’s Secret in global lingerie visitor numbers and has over 30,000 sites and blogs linking to them, not bad in a site officially launched in May 2008!
With no SEO work the site now ranks 1st for knickers, on page 1 for lingerie, ladies swimwear, nightwear and thongs.
Another great viral video i’ve seen has been created by Rebel Virals for caterer.com.
The video ‘Little Gordon’ is part of a series and the second video has now been released.
A site has been set up around the series and it already has a pagerank of 5
Having a quick look into this it would seem that Rebel Virals have done this through an off-line or an email seeding strategy.
On the Little Gordon site there is a teaser for the third installment but not a release date. You can submit your email to receive the new video. This will increase the mailing list even further as subsequent installment are released. Therefore any clients who are looking to ‘go viral’ with videos should maximise the potential of any mailing lists.
