All this talk about inLink

Been reading on more or less every blog the excitement around the InLink tool

, particularly the participation from Google.

I decided to have a bit more of a look into the idea and see if it is actually worth all the hype.

A quick summary is that InLink sell text links to point to your website for any keywords from links within text of a blog.

The first thing is that it’s not going to take Google long to work out the sites selling the links and with all the publicity Google will put a lot of effort into penalising this network so doubt it will last long.

download Suitable for Murder dvd The second issue is the way that it tries to tell you what sites are a good link. All it shows you is a short snippet of text with the keyword within it and the PageRank of both the homepage and the post page. The PageRank doesn’t really tell you whether it is a good link or not so using this as the only indicator is not particularly useful. Searching the snippet in Google can help to locate the page and then further analysis can be achieved.

The next issue is that the snippet doesn’t show you where in the page the link will be. If it’s at the bottom of a 3000 word post then it’s a waste of money.

The third issue is the text keyword I purchased, (purely for test purposes Google, promise!) said it was on a PageRank 3 post, it wasn’t. The site had a pagerank 4 but the post had no PageRank. So if the only indicator of quality that InLink gives you is incorrect that I have no faith in the system and personally feel it is a waste of time and money.

It will be adopted by people who want to buy links and just want to buy them in mass, but it won’t offer much benefit and will drastically increase the chance of being penalised.

My advice is don’t bother with it.
