Just read about the new phones for 2009. This phones have built in projectors and reminded me of something i thought about last year. My idea was/is to use a mobile phone as a laptop, now the idea is obvious but i was thinking more along the idea of how a small mobile phone can offer a large enough keyboard and screen to replace the laptop and still be small.
The software on the majority of smart phones is already there to offer alternatives to the windows desktop operating system, with the obvious substitute of windows mobile – with the ability to use Excel, Word and Powerpoint. The blackberry being an obvious alternative.
The idea i had was to have a built in projector within the mobile phone – which is now happening, therefore achieving the large screen available on the laptop. For the keyboard alternative i was thinking of using a technology already available – the keyboard which is projected onto a desktop surface.
So the phone sits in the middle and projects a screen out of one end and keyboard out of the other. I’m not Nokia so didn’t persue the idea much further but seeing the new projector phones coming out then it seems like the idea may well be the directions phones are heading. Watch this space!
