Facebook: it’s business as usual on March 15th

Facebook has hotly denied that it will be changing its status to ‘deceased’ on March 15th.

The world’s most popular website has issued a statement on Facebook, of course, saying that its team of employees will be (social net)working away on the big day.

“We didn’t get the memo about shutting down, so we’ll keep working away like always” was the word from Facebook HQ.

Premature news of its demise originated from a website called Weekly World News, and perhaps the clue as to its authenticity is the fact that another story it ran this week had the headline “Megan Fox is a man.”

Facebook supremo Mark Zuckerberg was quoted by Weekly News as saying: “The stress of managing this company has ruined my life and I need to put an end to all this madness.”

His vice president was purported to have reacted to the news by commenting: “Without Facebook, people will actually have to go outside and make real friends. That’s always a good thing.”

The satirical prank is what we’d call a victimless crime and so good luck to Weekly World News! – a site which always seems to contain an element of truth in its hoax news briefs – apart from “Miley Cyrus to do Playboy” that is.
